Basic Features

Q: Is an internet connection required?

No, Koe Nikki works completely offline. All features are available even in airplane mode or in areas with no signal.

Q: How can I improve speech recognition accuracy?

Speak clearly in a quiet environment and hold the device's microphone close to you. Enabling "Voice Control" in iOS Settings may also improve accuracy.

Q: AI title generation is not working

AI title generation is available on iOS 26 or later when Apple Intelligence is enabled. On older devices, a rule-based method automatically extracts keywords from the text to generate a title.

Q: What languages are supported?

Currently, speech recognition supports Japanese only.

Technical Issues

Q: I can't record

Please check the following:

  1. Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone and make sure Koe Nikki is allowed
  2. Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Speech Recognition and make sure Koe Nikki is allowed
  3. Make sure no other app is currently using the microphone
  4. Force-quit the app and relaunch it

Q: The app crashes

Please try the following:

  1. Force-quit the app and relaunch it
  2. Restart your device
  3. Check available storage (recording data requires free space)
  4. Update iOS to the latest version

Q: My diary entries disappeared

Data is stored only on your device. Data may be lost in the following cases:

  • Uninstalling the app
  • Resetting the device
  • Issues during an iOS update (rare)

Unfortunately, lost data cannot be recovered.

Data Management

Q: Can I back up my data?

In the current version, data is stored only on the device and there is no backup feature. We plan to consider this in a future update.

Q: Can I sync data between devices?

Koe Nikki is designed to be fully offline for privacy protection and does not offer device-to-device sync.

Q: How do I completely erase my data?

You can delete individual entries from the history screen within the app. To erase all data at once, uninstall the app. Uninstalling completely removes all data from the device.
